International Collaboration on Stellar Magnetic Activity and Star Planet Interactions

This project uses X-ray observations from Chandra, XMM-Newton, and other facilities to assess whether magnetic or tidal interactions between close-in giant planets and their host stars produce observable enhancements in stellar coronal and chromospheric activity. The research also investigates how prolonged high-energy stellar irradiation drives atmospheric escape from exoplanets, potentially stripping hydrogen-helium envelopes from close-in worlds.
