Icy Materials at High Pressure and Temperature

This project investigates the behavior of water, ammonia, and methane ices under the extreme pressures and temperatures found inside ice giant planets like Uranus and Neptune. By combining atmospheric modeling with diamond-anvil cell experiments, the research bridges observational constraints on planetary interiors with laboratory measurements of how icy compounds transform, melt, and mix at depth — key to understanding the structure and evolution of ice giants.
